Is Lamar Jackson better than Russell Wilson

NFL Top 100: The top 15 put to the test - where were the players right, where right wrong?

For the tenth time it failed NFL Network This year the NFL players will vote for the 100 best players in the "NFL Top 100". But were the players right this year? SPOX editor Marcus Blumberg rated the top 15 in the player selection.

Basically, such a choice is highly subjective, especially if it is made by not always objective, active players. Active players of course have a different view of their own teammates and opponents than people who have more distance.

In this respect, the fundamental question arises as to what exactly the electoral criteria are for such a "Top 100" list. Sporting quality, value for the team, maybe even popularity?

This text, on the other hand, is supposed to be about sports and not about popularity, which is why some places in the top 15 can be questioned.

NFL Top 100: These rankings fit well

In principle, only two places in this year's top 15 are really good. Russell Wilson in second position and Aaron Donald in third position.

NFL Top 100: Russell Wilson - Seattle Seahawks

Russell Wilson played a really strong season recently and has been at a very high level for years. The fact that he is held back by the Seahawks system and that he is only allowed to develop his full potential late, for example when chasing back, should not be negatively attached to him.

Rather, Wilson is overall the second best quarterback in the NFL with his scramble ability, his outstanding deep balls and his general coolness in important moments, which is why 2nd place fits perfectly.

NFL Top 100: Aaron Donald - Los Angeles Rams

Is he maybe the best athlete in the league? In any case, Donald has been the league's most impressive and consistent pass rusher for a few years now. The three-time Defensive Player of the Year - and five-time All-Pro - can hardly be kept on the line and is considered a prototype for the modern defensive tackle, which not only provides the run stopper.

In the previous year, its production fell slightly, but that can be explained by the tendency that it was permanently doubled by the enemy. Nevertheless, he finally managed to get 55 pressures (12.5 sacks), although the quality around him at the Rams has not necessarily improved recently. Donald continues to be the best defender in the NFL and has earned a top three spot, especially in a premium position.
