How has Age of Discovery affected Africa?

Africa Yearbook 2002

Introduction

Regular observation and evaluation of the diverse political, economic and social developments in all African countries is extremely difficult, even for those who are particularly interested, in view of the inadequate and scattered general reporting. The Africa Yearbook, which is now in its sixteenth year for 2002, aims to provide all those who work with Africa with a compact and precise overview of all the main events of a calendar year in one place. The focus of the yearbook is on the uniform presentation of developments in the reporting year in the individual countries, in the four sub-regions of sub-Saharan Africa and in the most important regional organizations. In addition to the country section, the yearbook provides information on German-African relations and analyzes a number of prominent current issues. An appendix gives an overview of German-language new publications of social and economic literature about Africa.
