There are a number of reasons why you might want to change your email address: you changed jobs, got married and changed your name, or maybe your 2003 email address is now a little embarrassing ... However, it is not that easy to change Gmail address.

Can you change your Gmail address?

Unfortunately, changing the Gmail address is not possible if it ends in @ - and that's the case with all personal Google accounts. However, if you use your Google account through school, work, or another organization, you can ask your administrator to change your address. In some cases, you can do this yourself if you have permission to do so.

But if you want to change your Gmail address as a private user, you probably have no choice but to create a new Gmail account with the desired email address. Grant access to old account

If you give your new account access to your old one, you will receive emails from your old account and can reply to them. This makes it easier for you to switch to the new e-mail address and you do not have to give up your old address immediately.   1. Sign in to Gmail with your old email address, click on the home page gear at the top right and then select "Settings" out.
  2. In the tab "Accounts & import"click next to"Give the following users access to my account" on "Add another account".
  3. Now enter your new email and click "Next Step".
  4. Then click on "Send email to grant access".
  5. You will now receive an email at your new email address. In it click on the link to accept the request.
  6. Finally click on "To confirm". You can then access your old one with your new account.
